For me, this was the saddest part of being a high school student, to leave his school which is full of memories, and to leave his friends who made his high school amazing and memorable.
.
.
.
It is really hard to leave University of the Philippines, because through it, you became friends with other strangers, and in that four walls of UP High, it witnessed your victories, struggles and your happy moments. But If I leave this school, I should not be remembered because of fame, because of achievements and heroic act and I have many friends. I want to be remembered as me, the real Juna Rose Dinglasa the have known for four years. I want to be remembered because of the happy moments we have shared and the times that I have helped them and the times that they have helped me. I want those to be remembered, because I want them to know, that in those things, they were part of those scenes. I want to be remembered because of my strugglings in life that I showed to them that I am weak. That, I have also weaknesses like them. That I am one of them. I do not want to be remembered because i have many friends, but I want to be remembered because they considered me as their friend.I want them to remember me because i cried a lot of times, and I am always needed help from them. I also wanted to be remembered not because the knew me for my achievements, but instead they knew the real me. I want them to remember me not because of my beauty outside but within inside. I want them to think of me because of my corny jokes and my mispronounced word.

Work Poems: Sweet Rima
.
.
Sweet Rima
Rima is the sweetest person to present a class
for every willing student - because she loves
to learn more about all she comes acrosss
he conveys her fascination with the world
in such an enthusiastic manner:
Bravo Rima, it was fun to study with you!
.
Rima’s own study guide is such a beautiful challenge
so much to do at home that we could not
focus on our own work - she awakened a desire for more
of her enchanting grammar ideas
for every concept there seem
to be three terms, at least - and mostly more
she taught them all - somewhere in the Arabic world
there is a different interpretation
as every culture has its own orientation
.
Rima prepared us to face it all while insisting
we tell her about our fears, plans, ideas
– she turned us inside out!

Graduation Song
To You, UP HIGH!
.
.
/
UP, you showed us the love and the care,
All thse, because you have shared,
We'll all, soar high and fly,
Anything for you, oh UP High!
(Repeat)
.
.
.
I know I can't forget
The laughters and tears we've shared
The unexpected closeness now
It wouldn't be easy to say goodbye
.
.
.
I know I can't forget
When teachers scold us and yet
We're there for each other to say
It's okay, I know I can't forget
.
.
.
A little voice I hear
Calling to us, my friend my dear
I hope that we can stay
But goodbye's all I can say
.
.
.
Now here we stand
at the crossroads of a new beginning
And looking back I promise you
(Those times I'll never forget...)
Through those times we have shared
The tears, the smiles and frowns
This I promise you
These memories will last forever
.
.
.
It's the start of a new beginning
So smile(so smile)
And soar high
Go on pursue your dreams
(Repeat except last line)
So smile(so smile)
And soar high
Go on pursue your dreams
(Repeat except last line)
.
.

hey friend, it seems only yesterday
when we rub elbows on our first day
we had an exchange of "hi's" and "hello's"
from strangers to dear fellows
.
.
.
we shared stories all along
from that day to four years on
we all walked together
through the cold and foggy weather
.
.

we grew up together
and friendship is what we treasure
.

It's the start of a new beginning
So smile(so smile)
And soar high
Go on pursue your dreams
(Repeat except last line)

I can still remember
how we shared tears and laughters
through all of the pains
and even through many obstacles
.

we grew up together
and friendship is what we treasure
and friendship is what we treasure

There are times when we're about to give up
true friends are there to cheer us up

This is our graduation song. It was composed by Lorem, Hazel, Aiko, Kimberly, Arvin, Mary Cris, Elaine and AJ. For me, this will be the most unforgettable song I ever sang in my entire life. You already know why. Through our efforts, we made this song beautifully. This signifies our lives from being strangers to each other to best of friends.
Love: An Act of the Will, Not of the Heart
Love: An act of the will, and not of the heart. What the heck does this imply?
.
.
.
.
.
For me, love is an act of the will. It is because before you love someone, it is your choice if you will know him better or just ignore the person. then it is in you if you fall in love with that person or not. It is an act of your will if you love the person despite of his or her negative side or bad attitude. Then you will know that your love is an act of the will because if it is not, you will let your heart beat and that you cannot control your feelings. Love in an act of the will for me is using your mind in loving. It is helpful because using your mind will tell you that you are in the right decision or not.

Love is any of a number of emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong affection or profound oneness.[1] Depending on context, love can have a wide variety of intended meanings. It is commonly conceived of romantically, as a deep, ineffable feeling of intense and tender attraction shared in passionate or intimate interpersonal and sexual relationships.[2] Love can also be conceived of as Platonic love,[3] religious love,[4] familial love, and, more casually, anything considered strongly pleasurable, desirable, or preferred, including activities and foods.[5][2] This diverse range of meanings in the singular word love is often contrasted with the plurality of Greek words for love, reflecting the concept's depth, versatility, and complexity. The definition of love is the subject of considerable debate, enduring speculation, and thoughtful introspection. In ordinary use, love usually refers to interpersonal love, an experience felt by a person for another person. Love often involves caring for or identifying with a person or thing, including oneself (cf. narcissism). Dictionaries tend to define love as deep affection or fondness.[1] In colloquial use, according to polled opinion, the most favoured definitions of love involve altruism, selflessness, friendship, union, family, and bonding or connecting with another.[6]The different aspects of love can be roughly illustrated by comparing their corollaries and opposites. As a general expression of positive sentiment (a stronger form of like), love is commonly contrasted with hate (or neutral apathy); as a less sexual and more mutual and "pure" form of romantic attachment, love is commonly contrasted with lust; and as an interpersonal relationship with romantic overtones, love is commonly contrasted with friendship, although other connotations of love may be applied to close friendships as well.

“The pride, unity and cultural wealth of a race emanate from a people's sense of self history, from the Early Filipinos, to the dawn of European colonization, the revolution of 1896, the birth of the Philippine Republic. The heroic contribution of the Cebuano people and the saga of events, which transpired on the islands of Cebu, are vital elements in the formulation of the nation we know today.

Their contribution should rightfully be emulated, immortalized and honored in a lasting monumental, aesthetic experience.
This work of art in Parian Park is the loving legacy of the City and Province of Cebu. This monumental-sculptural tableau is honor to the people of Cebu and is a tribute to all Filipino people and the wealth of our race. “(Heritage of Cebu)
This is what is written on the stone in front of the monument, Heritage of Cebu, sculpted by Eduardo Castrillo. The sculptural tableau cost P33.2 Million. The construction began on July, 1997 and was inaugurated on December, 2000. This monument showcases the history of Cebu during the Spanish Era. It shows how Christianity started, how Filipinos resisted their conquerors and how martyrdom existed in the Philippines.
The monument consists of different tableaus which reveals the history of the Philippines especially Cebu City. Part of the monument included the Catholic mass. The first Catholic mass in the Philippines was held in Limasawa, Leyte on March 31, 1521 by a Spanish friar named Pedro Valderama. It was at this time that the Spaniards introduced the image of the Child Jesus, Santo. Niño, to the Filipino natives. Christianity spread all over the Philippines. The Filipinos especially the Cebuanos became a devotee to the Child Jesus. Because of the Spaniards’ aim to spread Christianity, the Basilica of Santo Niño founded by the Augustinian priest, Andres de Urdaneta on April 28, 1565 was built. That is why the basilica together with the devotees of the Child Jesus was shown in the monument. Not only was the devotion to the Catholic religion but also the struggles to be free from the Spanish colonialism of the Filipinos shown. Ferdinand Magellan was the first Portuguese representing Spain who arrived at the Philippines, specifically Mactan. The Mactan natives did not like the idea of foreigners living in their land. So the first battle between the Filipinos and the European Conquerors occurred during April 14, 1521. The Filipinos, led by Lapu-Lapu, fought the pursuers which led to the death of Magellan. Thus, it made the Spaniards retreat to Spain. After the foreign colonialism in the Philippines, the country established their own government and elected their own presidents. Cebu is proud to say that it has produced a highly esteemed president by the person of Sergio Osmeña Sr. Cebu also produced Catholic martyrs. This was proven through the beatification of Pedro Calungsod.
Tourists from around the world now visit this monument. Hopefully, as time goes by, people will flock around the said monument and marvel at its beauty just as the local residents gaze at its astounding honor.
According to Marina Ybañez, a 65-year-old resident of Barangay Pari-an, the Heritage of Cebu was built at around year 1997 and was finished on year 2000. She witnessed the making of the monument and how it was established. She described it as marvelous that it can attract tourists from all over the world. Therefore, it promoted the tourism of the Philippines.
According to Miraciel Saberon, a 44-year-old resident of Barangay Pari-an, the monument signifies the Spanish occupation here in the Philippines. It was built in Pari-an because many Spaniards settled and made the place as their first residence. This was how Pari-an got its name which means “first village”. Because of the monument and some historical landmarks, Pari-an became a first class barangay.

Friends
For me, my friends are my unforgettable memory I have in my high school life. You know why? It is because if not for them, I could not make memories and adventures which I could keep until the rest of my life. Friends, are like your brothers and sisters. No wonder if you are closer to your friends than to your brothers or sisters. In them, you can tell your darkest secrets, your moments with your crushes, and also in them, you can find assurance that they will help you and support you in your decisions you make. Sometimes, it is easy to tell your problems to your friends rather than to your parents. Friends also give you advices, but beware! You should also screen their advices if they will lead you to a right or a wrong path. You cannot feel that you are out-of-place if you are with your friends.
.
.
.
After leaving my elementary life and entering the new stage of what-is-called the high school life, I thought that I would be out-of-place, and I could not survive here in UP High because I had no friends before. I was scared before because I am not used of having new environment, dealing with strangers. But, I realized that these strangers were also feeling the same way too. Until we introduced ourselves and we became friends. We exchanged "hi's" and "hello's", that we did not even notice that we were already making unforgettable memories.
.
.
.
When I was in second year, I already had circles of friends. First, the JuNoSh. These were Juna, which is me of course, Novelyn and Shedyl. They were my best of friends until now. I was also a member of the clan, Royal Family, which I think has 30+ members. It was fun to have friends like them, because each of us have different characters and personalities. The group was headed by our very own, April Mae Gamboa, the mother-like classmate of ours. Because of these, they made my circle of friends wider. Sometimes, we had misunderstandings but we still gave way and learned to forgive. Here in this stage, I realized that they were my true friends because they were there not only in my happiest days but also in times of trouble. They were there to comfort me, and to protect me. I was also a member of the SJB(Samahan ng mga Junior Boys), wherein girls are the members and only allowed to be a member of this group. This group is really unique and fantastic! Here, we shared many funny experiences that made this group to be a treasured one.
In my senior life, I now know that my circle of friends become wider. I notice that many groups become together and form into a bigger group. I know I am one of them. Now I realized that I am not being secluded by them, but they are pulling me towards them, to let me feel that I am not alome, that I have many friends who loves me and cares for me. Because of them , I am now contented of what I have. Until now, we are still unconsciously making memories even in our last days in high schools.
.
.
.
This are the few words that I would promise to you all: I would not forget my friends, even if others are not my closest friends, I will still treasure them, because if not for them, I would not be the Juna Rose Dinglasa you have known for four years.
Batchmates, teachers, UPians, thank you so much for finding my lost pieces in life. Now, my puzzle in life would be easier to solve because I know, that you will be there behind me cheering me in my decisions I make. Thank you very much and I love you all! UP Rocks!

A Different Feeling(The Look)
The Look
Strephon kissed me in the spring,
Robin in the fall,
But Colin only looked at me
And never kissed at all.
Strephon's kiss was lost in jest,
Robin's lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day.
-Sara Teasdale
Sometimes, we tell ourselves that we already found our true love. Maybe yes, others already found it, but what if you are wrong? What if there is another man who will come into your life which is better than the first man that you called "true love", and then you fall in love with him? Isn't it regretful? Isn't it ironic? It is good to have a mutual feeling when you entered in a relationship. But what if your feeling fades away? What if you do not have feelings remained for your so-called "TRUE LOVE"? It is hard right?
You know, I also loved a person and we entered in a relationship. That time, i told myself, "I think he is the right guy for me.". But eventually, we broke up, because our feelings just fade away. It really hurt me a lot, and I realized that he was not meant for me. And now, I still wait for the man of my dreams. There is a saying that "true Love Waits". but sometimes, i became impatient of waiting my ture love. Maybe I am just insecure to other couples. Many times I cried, and now, all i wanted is to be happy and to be feel safe by my true love. If you experience true love, then you should not let go of that feeling, because you would end up realizing that you still love him or her and you will regret every thing that made you separated from her.
Someday
When I first step foot in UP High, I knew that I could learn many things in here. But what I do not know before is that I would also learn how to love and be hurt in this four walls of UP High.
Yes, I experienced to love and being loved. When I was in first year, I already met my first love. I still remember when I first knew that I was falling in love with him. It is because he was my partner in Computer, and he always teased me. Actually, i really hate him at that time, but when I knew my feelings for him, everytime I saw him was like a heaven for me. It was hard to ba trapped with his killer smile because I then realized that he was in love to another girl, and not me. I really cried that time because it was very painful.
When I was in my sophomore, we were classmates. I still like him. But there was another guy who told me that he liked me. Actually, I liked him, but as a friend only. One day, we had an open forum, and we expressed our feelings. I told my first love that i liked him, and i rejected my other friend. But my first love liked another girl, and this girl also like my other friend. After that, my friend and I ended our communication and did not even talk for a long time. Then I realized that I was falling in love with him! It was really hard because he and that girl were in a relationship. But i still managed myself not to cry for him.
In my third year of living in UP High, my friends told my that the other friend of mine liked me. I also began liking him because i had a crush on him when we were still in second year. But my second love told me that he would court me. I knew that I had my feelings for him so we entered in a relationship. But we broke up, and it hurts. In my fourth year life, we get together but we could not make thigs work so again, we broke up. But this friend of mine always cheered me up. Later on, I realized that maybe I wasw falling in love with him. But again, he loved another girl and it was painful. Until now, I still like him and I still care for him. But I could not expressed my feeling because I feared of rejection. Everytime I see them happy, I could not stop my emotions that i have to go to another place where I could not see them. Until now, this pain hurts. But I have to accept the fact because I know that in her side, he will be happy.
I hope that someday, I could get over and move on. I hope that time would heal this pain. I want to forget my feelings for him. I want the time to heal the pain inside. Someday.
What's in this Blog?!?
What is in this blog? Sometimes, I always think why do we have to make a blog. Before, I totally disagree of having blog as our project. it is because of many reasons:
1). Most of the students have no computers at home, so they have to go to the internet cafe to make entries for their blog and they have to spend money for that. It was really expensive.
2). We do have many activities in school that we do not have the time to make entries for our blog. We are time-pressured and that, we would be depressed and cannot think well of what we will do.
3). There are 5 entries per week, and we cannot make entries easily because aside from the required topics given, we cannot think of other topics for the blog.
That time, we were really confused of what we will do that we have to cursed this activity.
But now, I realize that because of this activity, I learned how to budget my time. If I will make entries for my blog, I will first make drafts so that it will not waste my time encoding in the internet cafe, and that I could save money for the next encoding. I will make drafts when I have a vacant time. When I make entries in the internet, I will not go to other sites except my blog.
I also learned on yhow to expound words and exaggerate them. In this blog, I learned to be disciplined. I learned how to manage myself in many activities.
I really learned many things from this blog. I now know how to do essays and articles, and it could really help to expand my vocabulary. I hope that this activity would continue because this blog is helpful. For me this activity of having blog is a savior!

Love or Lust? When we are in a relationship, we often tell our partner that we love them so much. But if there involves actions that could tempted us, it is not already love, it is lust. Sometimes, we often describe lust as love. For me, love is the feeling that could make you experience total happiness, and that you could be kind and understanding towards your loved one. You do not need to be sexually aroused when you see your partner because love is patient. lust, on the other hand, is different from love. It is because lust is the feeling when you are sexually aroused to your opposite sex and that you could make things that are sinful. it could lead you to temptation. But sometimes, love and lust could be combined if your relationship is intimate.
Loneliness
Definition:

Being lonely is the thing which I mostly feared of. It is because I do not want to be alone, and I do not want to feel being rejected. I want to have friends. I want to have someone to talk to, and someone who can assure me that i am safe. Being alone is the scariest thing that I could imagine. Maybe if I am alone in this world, I could not survive. It is better for me to kill myself rather than being alone and lonely. Being alone is like you are secluding yourself to other people that you are like an outcast. And I do not want that to happen on me. I am very dependent to my family, and friends. Being lonely could make you feel stressed and depressed. But we also need to be alone so that we could meditate ourselves and we could think in our decisions in life. But what is the use of a friend if we always found ourselves sitting in one corner alone? It is also needed to approach somebody and tell him or her what you feel so that it could light up your feelings.
On Being Taught by Students
Being taught by students?!---- Yeah, here in UP High, we experience that a lot of times. Here in this school, we have an activity called KYSD or Know Your School Day. It is an activity were in students substitute the teachers and became teachers in their own classes. They teach their classmates and they have the right to give quizzes and assignments to their students. I experienced that of bewing a student teacher when I was in first year and second year. I was a Science c and Math teacher before. I taught my classmates and I gave them quizzes. It was a fun experience but somehow it was a little bit hard scolding your classmates.
I also experience being as student of students. A lot of times. in math, Science, and even minor subjects like Physical Education and music. Not only in Know Your School Day that I was being taught by students, but also during our hard times in a particular subject. It is because when we did not understand what the teachers taught us, we asked help to the students who are good in that particular subject. Then they taught us the lesson which we least understand. it is heplful because we could understand more the lesson which we muddled, and our scores will increase. In Know Your School Day, it is an advantage to be taught by students because they would give quizzes and assignments which are easy. That is why during this school activity, students have higher scores in quizzes and assignments. But there are also disadvantages when we were taught by our co-students. Like for example, st5udent teachers may know what they were going to teach us, but thy do not know on how to explain 6this to their students. They have a hard time expressing their knowledge to us. It is also disadvantage if hte student teachers misinterpreted the lesson, because instead of learning the lesson, we wuould also misinterpret it.
But somehow, it is also good to be t5aught by our fellow students, because we would see that they are also capable of being teachers in the near future, and they share their knowledge to those who needed their help.
Starstruck
"And now, the Best Actress Award goes to, Ms. Juna Rose Dinglasa!"
Dream.
My dream?! Okay, I know a lot of times I said this to you, but really it is my dream. To become a multi-awarded actress. Now, I want to ask you this, is it wrong to have a dream like this? because people who have this dream were told that they were not good to be seen in television, and they were not meant to be actors. People around them discouraged their talents and skills, so they ended up losing their hopes and giving up their dreams. Question: are you one of them, or are you one of these judgemental people who made other's self-esteem low? For me, it is not bad to have a dream like this, because it is just a dream. The dream that could inspire us to strive hard to achive this dream. Sometimes, many people prejudged others' dreams. They thought that these kind of dreams lead others to failure, and not to success. But dreams can always make us successful, if we just believe in it and fight for it.
Believe.
We have our dreams, so we have to believe in it. No, not that we have to, but we really believe in our dreams. Me, I always believe of becoming a good actress and having movie series in theatres. i believe in my talents and skills, and I believe that I could make it. Some people say that I have the beauty and a gooed personality, and I am good in acting. So I asked myself, why not if I join auditions and talent searches? To tell you honestly, I always imagine myself joining a talent search or leading a teleseries in ABS-CBN. I do not know why but I always imagine this at least everyday. This sounds funny right?! Yeah, because I know I believe in my capabilities and most especially, in my dream.
Survive.
Of course, if I want to achieve my dream, I have to take risks. You knoe, taking risks is not losing what you have, it is sacrificing in order to get what you want. So, before I could be a good actress, I know I have to face many trials, and I have to be strong and be called a survivor. Yes, achieving your dreams and being successful are the fruits of surviving from all the hindrances and discouragements. Thus, I have to stay strongand be a survivor.
Believe in it. Survive for it. Live with it.

JS Promenade
"Look at them. They all transformed into gorgeous lades and handsome gentlemen."
These were the words that I heard from a teacher when I was in second year high school. The pictures of the students taken from the Sacred Heart School were posted near the UP High entrance gate. I knew before that it was their JS Prom, and the Juniors and Seniors were paited up and they were all dressed in gowns and suites, but I did not know what was with the JS Prom then that students from the Third Year and Fourth Year found it memorable and unforgettable night, until I heard news from them that JS Prom is enjoyable and students should not miss it.
When I was in my third year high school, the first thing that kept me on thinking from it is the JS Prom. I was really excited before that I could imagine myself that it was our JS Prom and I was wearing a long gown and then my crush went to my table and asked me to dance with him.
And as my junior days went by, I got really excited and somehow, worried because we had to ay a big amount of money because the venue and the food were quiet expensive.
One day, our teacher told us to gather in the covered court. Then ,we were paired up to the seniors. Then from that time on, we kept on practicing walking with our partners, while wearing our sandals. A first, it was really difficult to wear a pair of sandals with three-inched high heels. But we had to get used to it. We also practiced dancing waltz. It was tiring but we had fun with our partners.
It was then the big night. The JS Promenade. The night that we were all waiting for. When we reached the Waterfront Hotel, we saw a total transformation of our batchmates, including the seniors. Then, the venue was really elegant, ad the food was delicious. But the most awaited part of the students in the program was the dancing part. As expected, the boys were getting their girlfriends and partners from their tables to the dancefloor, and they were dancing. I guessed all of us enjoyed that night including the teachers. Indeed, JS Promenade was really a treasured night for all of us students. Missing this nght would mean missing a half of your life.
Know Your School Day
In your class, the teacher teaches you lessons so that studets like you will learn something new.Sometimes, he or she gives quizzes that makes you to murmur in your seats. But do you realize how hard it is to be a teacher? And how hard it is to handle students with different personalities and attitudes?
We all know that teachers are our second parents here in school. We might not know what they experience right now being our mentors, but we know that it is hard to someone like them.
Today, in this school activity, held in every third week of January, students can now thank their teachers who taught and guided them by letting themselves be the substitutes of the dear teachers just for three days. This is to let them experience how hard it is to be a teacher but how good it is to teach lessons to the students. This is the time for the teachers to rest and relax, and also the time to harness the skills of the student teachers in teaching and discussing the lessons. This schoolactivity is the KYSD or the Know Your School Day.
In the KYSD, the students can apply for the positions of clerk, guidance counselor, teacher, librarian, assistsnt principal or even principal. Aside from that, they can also apply for the assistant dean and dean positions. For three days, the applicants who passed the interviewwill do the things which teachers and staffs usually do. They can also give examinations to their students regarding the topics they discussedin their particular subjects in their class. In ths school activity, they will experience difficulties being teachers.
During its closing program, the students will present their presentations for the teachers. It is not compulsory; it is voluntary. The students will also give tokens to them as a sign of their gratitude of having them as their teachers.
That is what KYSD is all about. Teachers are not as ordinary as we think about them, they are extra ordinary. But they also experience difficulties to0 be able for us to learn the subjects.
Research Project: Ethanol Content from Potato, Sweet Potato and Taro:A Comparative Study
Philippines, our country, is a third world country that depends mainly on foreign products. And one of these products is energy from oil exports from the Middle East. We all know that petroleum come from fossil fuels. The production of fossil fuel is declining and not only that, the fossil fuel also emit harmful gases that cause air pollution. Fossil fuel is also a non-renewable resource. With these facts, the researchers came up with the idea of using an alternative source of fuel, which is biodiesel. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel, which the raw materials are found here in the Philippines. Ethanol is the main component for biodiesel. It consists of raw materials such as sugary and starchy plants. Sugary plants are sugar canes and sugar beets while example of starchy plants are rice, corn and root crops. The researchers decided to use the root crops as a source for ethanol since it is widely available here in Cebu. These root crops are potatoes, sweet potatoes and taros. These three are abundant in Cebu that is why the researchers chose them specifically. The team conducted the study, hand in hand, in vision that many may benefit from this study. It was the purpose of the researchers to compare the amount of extracted ethanol from 100ml of potato, sweet potato and taro. The researchers were also interested in knowing which of the three yielded the greatest amount of alcohol and the least amount of alcohol. To have the data required for a fair conclusion, the researchers went on the procedure of distillation. First, we prepared the materials needed. The processes involved were divided into three major divisions: cooking, fermentation and distillation. Cooking involves the peeling and cooking of the root crops for 15 minutes. The process of cooking also included the blending of the root crops and the mixing 60 grams of yeast thoroughly. After the cooking process comes the fermentation process. In fermentation, the blended yeast and root crops are placed inside a jar and then was sealed airtight. The jar was placed in a cool dry place for 30 days without opening. This span of time was the fermentation period of the yeast. The yeast will perform the chemical reactions in order to produce ethanol. After 30 days of fermentation, the fermented root crops were then to undergo distillation in order to extract the ethanol. Three set-ups of distilling instruments were prepared in this process. The distillation process involves the separation of liquids from liquids. That has to be done with the fermented root crops. After each trial was distilled within 15 hours of distillation, they were subjected into a flame test. The sweet potatoes and taros sparked while the taro extract did not. The researchers also measured the mass and the volume of the distillate and the amount of ethanol extracted from the fermented root crops. The researchers got the following data after performing the experiments: 4.7 ml of ethanol was extracted from potatoes, while 7.5 ml and 5.5 ml of ethanol was extracted from sweet potatoes and taros, respectively. With these data, sweet potato was found to be a better source of ethanol compared to potato and taro.
